At Family Dentistry in Newburgh, our goal is to promote a lifetime of great dental care. Our patients have many experiences that they share with us as our relationship develops with them over the years.  A common fear of many people is visiting the dentist. We would like to share an experience of one of our patients who had the fear of “The Chair.”    Our patient had an unpleasant experience with a dentist in another town and had not visited the dentist for 10 years. She realizes now what a mistake that was not to visit a dentist because of the zinging  pain she was dealing with in her back tooth.  Our patient
shared “Reflecting on my impressionable childhood, I remembered Dr. Hart. He didn’t hurt me when I was 12, so why not try to locate him? ” ” I called. I explained to the personable lady who answered the phone about my predicament and that I likely should make an appointment. I asked if Dr Hart worked any evenings or weekends but learned that the earliest evening appointment was with Dr. Schmitz. I reiterated the fear; however, she assured me it would be fine, and so I reluctantly said I would come in.   Well, let me say, Dr. Schmitz and Joyce could not have made the experience better. You both were very kind and sensitive to my jitters and set me at ease. I simply sat there and allowed you to drill down that UH-OH back molar and put a temporary crown on it!!! I can’t believe I did that. And, then I came back to get the permanent crown! I can’t believe I did that either. Then before I could get away, an appointment was set for me to come back for a cleaning and full checkup. I even agreed to that although I was nearly convinced that the checkup would entail pushing on my teeth, finding cavities, scraping and pulling. I mean how could you make three experiences not unpleasant? When the date came, I was nervous, but once again, no fear was necessary. You didn’t hurt me and further told me I had no cavities! I felt like calling my 86 year old mother and saying “HEY MOM, NO CAVITIES!”  “All stories aside, I truly thank you for your work, your patience and gentleness. I guess I won’t wait another 10 years to see a dentist. I can assure you young and old that they may set their fears of  THE CHAIR aside if they go and see Joyce and Dr. Schmitz. ”
Remember that visiting the dentist can be a pleasant experience!  Please contact us and allow Dr. Ogle, Schmitz, and Hart give you a Lifetime of Great Dental Care.    Â
