Summertime Sensitivity

Summertime is Here!  Do you have Summertime Sensitivity?  We are referring to sensitive teeth when eating very cold food or drinks.  You also may have sensitivity to hot foods as well as breathing in cold air.  Drs. Ogle, Schmitz, and Hart would like for you to enjoy your summer and wanted to share a few ways to deal with the sensitivity.  First of all, sensitivity can be caused by recession of the gums and enamel loss of the teeth.  This is because of the tooth’s nerve being exposed to these stimuli, which is the hot or cold items.  If you have this sensitivity, be certain to contact us at Family Denistry to allow for the dentists to evaluate your teeth and instruct you with the best treatment techniques.    In the meantime, remember to brush gently with a soft toothbrush, use the toothpaste for sensitive teeth, floss using a gentle floss, and prevent teeth grinding by using a mouthguard at night or when recommended.  Family Dentistry wishes you a Summertime of Fun and Healthy Teeth.
