Knocked Out Tooth Emergency

Posted .

Family Dentistry would like to share some tips for a knocked out tooth.  If something happens to your childs “baby tooth” and the tooth is no longer in the socket, call our office for further instructions.   Even though it is normal for a child to lose their baby teeth,  attempting to place the tooth back into the socket could damage the permanent tooth.  If your child or an adult has a permanent tooth knocked out, remember to place that tooth back into the socket.  If the tooth is soiled, rinse  the tooth with water prior to placing in the socket.  Do not scrub the tooth or remove any tissue from the tooth.  Gently, place the tooth in the socket and hold in place with gauze or a clean wash cloth.  If the tooth is unable to be held in place in the socket, place the tooth in a container of milk, saliva, or water.  Contact Dr. Ogle, Schmitz, or Hart as quickly as you can for further instructions and remember to take your tooth with you when you visit them.
