Got Cheese?

Posted .

Everyone should be aware that what we eat affects the health of our teeth.  Family Dentistry would like to share the study published in General Dentistry regarding researchers who studied the effects of cheese, sugar free yogurt, and milk in the mouths of 12 to 15 year olds.  Calcium is found in all the dairy products and is a strengthener of teeth.  What the researchers also determined was that cheese dropped the pH level in the mouth more than the others.  By dropping the pH in the mouth, the amount of plaque build-up is reduced.  Plaque can lead to cavities so by eating the cheese resulted in fighting cavities and protecting the enamel even more than the milk and yogurt.  All dairy products are a better choice than other sugary or carb snacks.  Drs. Ogle, Schmitz, and Hart promote healthy eating for your teeth so in case you hear “Got Cheese?”  – you and your family will know exactly why cheese is requested.
