Broken Tooth Emergency

Broken teeth can happen to anyone at times that they least expect it.  A broken tooth can occur from being hit in the mouth from a ball, a door,  a fist, or anything that could possibly hit a person in the face.   A tooth can break also by biting on a food particle that is hard and the tooth cannot handle the force of the item.  No matter the cause of the broken tooth- taking care of this tooth is very important.  Family Dentistry with Drs. Ogle, Schmitz, and Hart want to help promote the repair of this broken tooth.  Please contact us if you or your family member have broke a tooth and to receive further instructions.   Remember to rinse the mouth with warm water so that the area around this tooth is clean.     Apply cold compresses which could be ice packs wrapped in a towel to assist in decreasing the swelling in the area where the tooth was broken.  If you can find the tooth fragment, wrap this in wet gauze or a wet towel.  Bring the tooth fragment with you when you visit the dentist.  Drs. Ogle, Schmitz, and Hart will evaluate the broken tooth along with the fragment and explain the options that can be done to repair this broken tooth.  As technology has continued to improve over the years, the repair of broken teeth has also improved immensely.    Family Dentistry is here for you and your family to provide a Lifetime of Great Dental Care including these dental emergencies.
