Do You Have Bad Breath?

Posted .

According to the Wall Street Journal, 25 % of adults around the world suffer from chronic halitosis that has nothing to do with illness.   Halitosis also known as bad breath is caused by bacteria build-up in the mouth.  This build-up often occurs on the back of the tongue where postnasal drip occurs.  Bacteria can also live in between teeth and gums and this can create a very unappealing smell.  At Family Dentistry,  Dr. Ogle, Dr.Schmitz,  Dr. Hart,  and the hygienists are prepared to assist all patients in eliminating this unattractive trait.  The best method to fight bad breath is to perform healthy dental habits.  This includes to brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss daily.  Also, cleaning the tongue with a tongue scraper will help eliminate the bacteria that resides on the tongue during the day.    If you do not have a tongue scraper,  brush the tongue with your toothbrush and clean thoroughly to remove all the bacteria.  And continue to have your teeth cleaned at least every six months by your hygienist to remove plaque and bacteria that you may not be able to remove.  Family Dentistry would like for you to have fresh breath as well as all of your family and friends that surround you!
