Family Dentistry is promoting the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day which is Saturday September 29th for the safety of all our patients as well as the community. On this day, anyone can bring unwanted or expired medications including opiod painkillers to the National Guard Armory 3300 Division Street or the Indiana State Police Post 19411 U.S. 41 North in Evansville, Indiana. Prescription medications are now the most commonly abused drugs among kids ages 12-13 and second to marijuana among young adults according to 2010 data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Almost 3 out of 4 of drug overdose deaths are caused by prescription painkillers. Studies have shown that the majority of these drugs are obtained from family and friends usually from a home medicine cabinet. Using these medications that could be prescribed by a dentist or doctor can be very dangerous for someone taking these that it was not prescribed for him or her.  Drs. Ogle, Schmitz, and Hart promote great dental care for you and your entire family for a lifetime.  Family Dentistry encourages you and your family to participate in this take-back  for the safety of your family and the community.
