As Halloween is right around the corner, we are surrounded with cookies and candy! As the festivities of all the Dressing Up and Trick-or-Treating begins, Family Dentistry would like to give reminders to protect your teeth during this high abundance of eating sugary items. Drs. Ogle, Schmitz, Hart, & Fickas recommend parents to be mindful of what their children are ingesting. Too much sugar can increase the risk of tooth decay in our teeth. Remember to limit the amount of candy that children are eating but also to promote more brushing and flossing during this time.  Hard or sticky candy is the worst type of candy for the teeth because it adheres to the teeth for long periods of time. Family Dentistry would like all to Enjoy the Halloween Festivities but also to protect all the teeth at the same time.
