Oral Cancer Awareness Month

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month!  Family Dentistry would like to remind all the importance of being evaluated for oral cancer.  Drs. Ogle, Schmitz, Hart, and Fickas evaluate each patient’s mouth for oral cancer  during every visit to the dental office.  These visits include your visit to the dentist when you have a procedure completed or your visit with your hygienist.   Your mouth will be evaluated by the dentist to determine if you have any signs or symptoms of oral cancer.  Approximately, 43,250 people in the United States will be newly diagnosed with oral cancer in 2014.  Early detection with oral cancer is always better than later.   The best prevention to oral cancer is regular visits to your dentists including every 6 months or earlier if any changes noted in your mouth that need to be evaluated.   If you have any questions or concerns regarding the health of your mouth,  please call us at 812-853-3313 to assist you with recommendations.  Family Dentistry has a goal to provide Great Dental Care for a lifetime and promoting a long healthy life free of oral cancer.
