What are you drinking? Protect your Mouth.

Why would a picture of a mug of beer be on a dental blog?  Of course, many people enjoy beer and other alcohol.  Responsibility must be present when drinking for the safety of yourself as well as all of those around you,  including your family and friends.  The topic that we would like to bring to the attention of all is promoting a healthy mouth.  Not sure if many are aware that excessive alcohol consumption can lead to a not healthy mouth.  According to the Royal College of Surgeon’s Dental Journal, health professionals warn that mouth cancer and dental disease can be caused by excessive alcohol consumption.  Of course, many problems can occur with alcoholism for an individual however the focus with our blog is to promote dental health for our patients.  As we have reviewed in the past how important the dental examination that Drs. Ogle, Schmitz, and Hart are performing, they may be the first professional that detects a possible cancer of the mouth, larynx, and esophagus.  At Family Dentistry in Newburgh, Indiana, our goal is to promote overall health and we want to screen our patients during their examinations to intervene with needed care and to promote a healthy mouth.
