As we continue to review the article on health.yahoo.net as shared on the last blog, we continue to focus on methods to promote dental health in our gums.  Drs. Ogle, Schmitz, and Hart want to promote teeth cleaning techniques to assist all of their patients to prevent gum disease. Remember to visit your dentist as well as performing the techniques for proper teeth cleaning.
4 Techniques For Proper Teeth Cleaning
- Rinse your mouth with mouthwash. Try to rinse for 30 seconds with a mouthwash that has microbial protection to fight gingivitis and plaque build-up.
- Floss before you brush. If you floss before you brush, you will be able to brush away any food that can only be removed with floss. Floss picks are easy to use if you have difficulty holding the floss.
- Brush with the correct toothbrush! Correct toothbrushes have soft or extra soft bristles. Hard bristled toothbrushes can endanger the gum tissue over time which can expose the root surface and create bone loss.
- Be Smart when brushing. Brush for 2 minutes to be effective in your cleaning, brush the tongue, and cheeks to rid of bacteria that will be present in your mouth. Remember to replace your toothbrush every 3 months or sooner if bristles are fraying.
