Tongue Scrapers Can Help Halitosis

Posted .

If you have chronic bad breath, also known as halitosis, proper dental hygiene is essential.  The dental hygiene that must be done includes brushing your teeth at least twice a day or more.  Change your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months to keep the brush free of any bacteria.  Remember to Floss at least once a day to remove any food or bacteria that may be lodged in between your teeth.  Drink plenty of water to keep your mouth moist and decrease the amount of bacteria that can cause halitosis.  And try a tongue scraper to clean the tongue to remove the bacteria that is living on the tongue.  Tongue scrapers can be found in stores near the toothbrushes.  Scrapers are an inexpensive way to decrease the bad breath.  If you do not have a scraper,  a toothbrush can be substituted however the scraper will be a more effective method to clean the tongue.   When using the scraper, start in the back of your tongue and bring it forward while scraping the bacteria away from the tongue.  These methods will help in decreasing the halitosis as well as decreasing the risk of dental decay by removing the bacteria from the mouth.  Drs. Ogle, Schmitz, Hart, and Fickas would like to promote great breath and great dental care for all of their patients.  Please contact us at Family Dentistry in Newburgh for further information at 812-853-3313.
