As most of us would look at this smile, one would assume that this person has the most perfect mouth with no health issues whatsoever.  Drs. Ogle, Schmitz, and Hart would examine this mouth like they examine all mouths. One should never be fooled with a very white smile. Many oral health problems could be hiding behind this beautiful smile. For example, this per
son could have worn, flattened surfaces on their back molars. This could indicate stress related clenching and grinding. Worn away enamel in the back of the upper teeth could indicate a eating disorder. The gums which are not shown in this picture could be red and puffy which can be common during pregnancy but is still important to be routinely monitored.  Spontaneous bleeding of the gums from tiny red hemorrhages may indicate leukemia.  If your teeth could talk and share with us what is going on with our mouths and bodies, this would be wonderful.  Since our teeth cannot, please rely on Family Dentistry in Newburgh to help you keep your mouth and body healthy!
