Sharing the knowledge of the damage that can occur from drinking soft drinks/sodas as well as sports drinks and juices is important to everyone's dental health. Our community does continue to drink these drinks so we want to promote prevention of dental decay. Remember to practice a few extra tips to hinder the damage that could occur. Drink these drinks in moderation. Make certain that these are not the only fluids that our bodies and our families bodies are consuming. Use a straw when drinking these drinks- this will reduce the amount of time that the sugary drinks will be “sitting” on your teeth. Drink at one sitting or with food- this again will reduce the amount of sugar and acid that is “sitting” on your teeth. Constantly drink water to rehydrate and flush the harmful sugars and acids from your teeth.  Drinking milk can improve the pH in your mouth and provide calcium to promote strong bones and teeth. Remember to brush and floss to promote the breakdown of teeth as well as using fluoride. Most importantly, visit your dentist at least every 6 months. Your dentist and hygienist will continue to evaluate your teeth and provide the necessary feedback for proper dental care.
